International Air

Manila – Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

The majority of the international flights arrive here; the airport is located for all purposes in the city. Transportation is available here to the Subic area by taxi and hired car.

Your arrival in the Philippines will be straightforward but may take time. While on the plane you will be given an immigration form to fill out, it is relatively clear to understand. Fill it out before you land. When you get off the plane follow the signs to immigration, walk at a good pace everyone that passes you will be in front of you in line. Many international flights arrive in the evening and the time your flight arrives may also be about the same time as 3 other flights. So the line can be very long, a few minutes difference could mean as much as a 30 to 45 minute delay thru passport control. When you get to the passport control officer you will be expected to present the immigration card you filled out on aboard the plane, your passport and the return plane ticket Most countries citizens are given a 21 day visa at the airport, so no visit to an embassy is required before hand, just your passport.

Verify the latest requirements with the airline or Philippine embassy before you book your flight. Most the time you will only be ask that the purpose of your visit, and how long you will stay. After clearing here you will go to claim your bag, baggage claim is directly in front of you. This may also take some time as normally a zillion boxes will come out first, okay not a zillion but it sure looks like it. Filipinos returning from overseas are allowed a special rate on these boxes and they are loaded last which means first off. Once you claim your bag proceed to the customs officers. The officer will check your form, stamp it and hand it back to you. Take the form and head to the exit giving the officer your form as you leave. It normally takes a hour to complete this process, but it can be as short as 20 minutes and as long as 2 and a half hours.

Diosdado Macapagal International Airport (DMIA) (Airport code CRK) CSEZ Angeles City

This airport is relatively new on the international commercial air travel scene. It is located on the Clark Special Economic Zone (CSEZ) which at one time was the US Air Force’s Clark Airbase., just outside of Angeles city. Located about 80 kilometers (50 miles) from Manila and only 60 kilometers (about 38 miles) from Subic some airlines list it as Manila. Today it serves an increasing number of short haul international flights and a limited number of domestic flights. Immigration requirements are the same here as in the Ninoy Aquino International Airport. Flights are however spaced out and the planes smaller so the time through immigration is shorter.

Subic Bay International Airport (SBIA) – Subic Bay Freeport.

This international airport is located at the site of the old US Naval Air Station Cubi Point. The airport is used as the Asian hub of FedEx and has a limited number of domestic and international flights. The majority of the flights are charter flights from Hong Kong or Taiwan. The SBMA and airport authorities have made it a priority to increase the number of flights arriving at SBIA. A few Asian carriers have expressed interest in public of adding the airport to their list of destinations.

Telephone

The country code for the Philippines is 63. when dialing from outside of the country dial your countries international access code, followed by 63, the city code and number.

Local numbers are often expressed with the Philippine long distance access code of “0” dropped the “0” if dialing from outside the Philippines.

For example 047 555-5555 when called from the US would be 011 63 47 555 5555. the city code for manila is 2, for Angeles City is 45 and for the Olongapo area 47. Cell phones have numbers starting with 9 and are grouped by service provider.

A number 0920 555-5555 would be a cell phone provided by Smart Wireless. International calls can be made and received by cell phones using the same format as land lines.
